The Waikato gathers for the 12th Annual International Transgender Day of Remembrance
11 November 2010 Community Groups

The LGBTTI community all over the world remembers and honours those who died from anti-transgender violence and bullying on the 20th of November. Even today, the deaths of those based on anti-transgender hatred or prejudice are largely ignored.

Hamilton, the city with a statue of Riff-Raff in its CDB, will join in the world-wide commemoration for the third time and make a stand against violence and bullying. This year, the Hamilton gathering for the 12th Annual International Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) will be already on Friday the 19th of November from 7.30pm onwards. We meet at the Riff-Raff statue, on our main street, Victoria Street. Agender Waikato and Hamilton Pride invite you to join us and make a stand against violence, bullying and discrimination. The Riff-Raff statue will be decorated with candles and flowers. In addition, thanks to the webcam at the statue, the Hamilton commemoration will be broadcast world-wide at http://www.riffraffstatue.org/page/riffraff_178.php.
