The Queenstown Mountain Scene newspaper on Thursdaay reported that Gay Ski Week may be cancelled.
The newspaper reported:
Queenstown’s Gay Ski Week faces cancellation as its organiser wrestles with a $25,000 “cashflow head-ache”.
Sydney-based Mike Sanford says changing the event’s dates to July 23-31 to avoid clashing with the Rugby World Cup has “killed things well and truly”.
Mr Sanford was also reported as saying:
“Let’s be honest, New Zealand’s not a sexy place to travel at the moment.”
This news was also reported on Sunday by Radio NZ.
An announcement is expected tomorrow (Tuesday) about the fate of Gay Ski Week but the website still has no information about the cash shortfall and as recently as 15th July was claiming the Pool Party was sold out and that last minute rooms were available.
