St Matthew’s supports gay priests

St Matthew’s in the City latest billboard campaign is drawing attention to the Anglican Church in New Zealand refusing to consider any candidate for ordination who is gay or lesbian and in a committed relationship.

Vicar Glynn Cardy was reporting as saying to the Stuff Newsite that

St Matthew’s has had enough of New Zealand Anglican bishops refusing to consider any candidate for ordination who is gay or lesbian and in a committed relationship.

“We see this as an issue of discrimination that harms not only the gay and lesbian community, but society and ultimately the church as well,” Cardy explains.

St Matthew’s have also started a petition to end the discrimination.
