“The Board is determined that the consultation process will be as open and transparent as possible, and that means allowing NZAF members the opportunity to bring related remits to the board at the special general meeting,” he said.
Simon Robb said remits would need to be provided in writing to the special general meeting so that the board can “take them away” and consider them alongside any written or oral submissions received about the Governance proposals.
“We are happy for the remits to be supplied at the special general meeting or ahead of time through the NZAF consultation email address - consultation@nzaf.org.nz
“People who submit remits will be given an opportunity to speak to them at the special general meeting but, as we expect the meeting to be well attended, remit presentations will need to be limited to the same time slot as the board has set aside for oral presentations. This is to ensure that everyone who wants to be heard can be heard.
“I wish to emphasise that the Governance proposals put forward by the NZAF Board are just that, proposals. The Board has not made up its mind on this issue and will give any submissions very careful consideration. If there are alternatives to our proposal, we want to hear them. It is very important that any decision made by the Board takes into account the sentiment received from its stakeholders. It may be that the submissions and remits received through consultation highlight issues relating to the current constitution generally. If that’s the case the Board will be mindful of this before it makes a final decision.”
