Hero is no more - long live Pride, Auckland, New Zealand

In 2009 there will be no Hero Festival instead a new Pride Festival Auckland '09 will occur.

The Hero Brand Management Group has disbanded and with only two trustees on the Hero Trust Board they did not have the resources to manage a Hero festival in 2009.

A new Pride Festival team has instead come together to bring together a 2009 Pride Festival.

Independent events such as Big Gay Out and Heroic Gardens are confirmed for 2009 as they operate independently of Hero. No news was available if the Hero Party would return in 2009. As for the Hero Parade it won't be back in 2009.
